The OnePlus 12R is again a part of the rumour mill. As per a new leak (via tipster Yogesh Brar on X), the phone will launch early next year, likely before February. However, we will already get a look at the phone before January once the company launches the OnePlus 12R as Ace 3 in China. Ahead of the official launch, the tipster added that the phone would carry a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which powers the OnePlus 11 5G. Additionally, there’s likely going to be a 5,500mAh battery, which is a big upgrade. The phone may retain the 100W charging support.

OnePlus also boasts the OnePlus number-series camera capabilities, especially after the Hasselblad collaboration for the OnePlus 9. The leak suggests the OnePlus 12R would feature a 50-megapixel (OIS), 8-megapixel (UW), and 32-megapixel (Tele) cameras on the back. But the R-series phones do not include Hasselblad-tuned cameras. For selfies, there is still going to be a 16-megapixel shooter. Other features include Android 14, stereo speakers, 120Hz 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED, and an alert slider.

A report in July also suggested similar specifications. However, the report claimed that the OnePlus 12R would carry a sub-standard macro camera instead of a 32-megapixel telecamera. We will have more clarity in the coming weeks.

Ahead of the official confirmation, there have been leaks and rumours about the next-gen OnePlus 12 as well. The phone may look similar to the OnePlus 12R variant but with a different build quality. It may carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The rear camera system may include a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera. On the front, a 32-megapixel camera may assist with selfies.

Similar to the OnePlus 12R, the OnePlus 12 is expected to include a large battery. There might be a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging. In addition to this, it is also said to offer support for 50W wireless charging tech.

While there’s going to be a performance gain, OnePlus will play it safe and not change the design drastically. That’s because the company will soon launch its first foldable, seemingly called OnePlus Open. The phone was rumoured to launch in September, but we may see the debut next month. Being an ultra-premium phone, OnePlus will keep the focus on the OnePlus Fold until the next one launches.
