Actor, director and novelist Ethan Hawke recently opened up about his upcoming directorial Wildcat, which stars his daughter Maya Hawke in a primary role.
ETHAN HAWKE ON DIRECTING MAYA IN WILDCAT
In the film, Maya had to shoot for some intimate moments, a few sex scenes. Regarding the same, Ethan answered that he had no issues directing Maya in those sequences as it was a part of his job.
“We were so comfortable with it. I couldn’t care less,” Hawke told Variety.

Meanwhile, Maya, whose mother is actor Uma Thurman, was asked about how she felt being directed by her celebrated father. Stating that she was slightly nervous at first, Maya mentioned, “I had moments of insecurity about it while we were shooting the movie. But the internet doesn’t have a lot of nuances. My dad has been a massive teacher for me, and we want to work together. We like being with each other.”
Meanwhile, Ethan had a different take on the subject as he said, “If someone wants to criticise us for working together, that’s totally fair. You have to let people have their opinion. You just have to try to do a good job when you’re onstage.”
Maya Hawke plays the late author Flannery O’Connor in the upcoming Wildcat. The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1, and is yet to hit the big screen.
