‘1st chip from Tata’s Dholera plant by 2026’ – Times of India

AHMEDABAD: Union minister of electronics and information technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said first chip from Tata ElectronicsDholera plant will be out in 2026. Vaishnaw along with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel said this during a media briefing in Dholera on Wednesday after the groundbreaking ceremony of company’s semiconductor fab unit at Dholera.
Tata Group is setting up India’s first semiconductor fab unit for Rs 91,000 crore in Dholera, which has been declared as the Semicon city.The Centre will contribute 50% of the capex on pari passu basis.
“Chip from Micron plant will be out by December this year. India will be among the top five chip ecosystems in the world by 2029,” the minister said. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said, “We are accelerating the timeline and looking forward to going live in 2026. Typically, a fab takes about four years to be established. Our goal is to begin commercial manufacturing in the later part of 2026.”
