Delhi to Jaipur in just 2 hours! Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced on Monday that an electric bus service will be introduced on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The plan involves laying electric cables along the highway, enabling a two-hour journey from Delhi to Jaipur. Gadkari further stated that the fare for this electric bus service will be 30 percent lower than that of a diesel bus.
According to a PTI report, these announcements were made during the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of 17 road projects in Udaipur, with an investment of over Rs 2,500 crore.Among these projects, a 67-kilometer four-lane expressway from Bandikui to Jaipur, costing Rs 1,370 crore, is expected to be completed by November 2024.
Gadkari also highlighted the significance of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, which is the first in Asia and second in the world to have an animal overpass. This overpass aims to ensure the safety of animals, preventing them from have cross by road. He expressed his satisfaction with the progress being made in Rajasthan, stating that the roads in the state are on par with international standards.
Furthermore, Gadkari assured that the national highways of Rajasthan will be at par with the national highways of America by the end of 2024. The Centre is currently investing Rs 60,000 crores in building express highways in Rajasthan, in addition to the ongoing construction of the 1,382 km Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway worth Rs 1 lakh crore. So far, Rs 22,000 crore worth of work has been completed in the state.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who was present at the ceremony, emphasized the importance of Udaipur as a tourist destination. He referred to it as the ‘Kashmir of Rajasthan’ and praised the developmental initiatives undertaken by the government since 2014 under PM Narendra Modi.
Sharma assured that the state government is committed to fulfilling its promises and completing projects such as the Maharana Pratap Corridor in a timely manner. He expressed confidence in the partnership between the Centre and the Rajasthan government to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
