MUMBAI: Bengaluru based Squadrone Infra and Mining Pvt Ltd, a startup company in aerial intelligence for mineral exploration, mining, tunnelling, and infrastructure has has forged an alliance with Industrias Geodia, Guyana, South America, to tap into the US$ 3-4 billion opportunity in India, Middle East and South Asia region, the Indian company announced on Wednesday.
“The focus of the alliance is to redefine geophysical prospecting and leverage state-of-the-art technology to drive sustainable development and revolutionize mineral exploration,” said Squadrone adding that global demand for critical minerals essential for green energy has created a significant supply gap. “This urgency has led to a focus on discovering vital minerals like nickel, cobalt, niobium, graphite, Lithium, and other green energy minerals. New discoveries, especially in Green field areas are a top priority. This alliance is set to tackle this global demand for critical minerals essential for green energy,” it added.
Squadrone was among the tech players involved in the 2023 Silkyara tunnel rescue of 41 trappe labourers. The company deployed two advanced drones, operated by a team of six skilled mining engineers, drone pilots and geotechnical experts, capable of maneuvering drones within tunnels. The drones were used for monitoring and helping with rescue.
Commenting on the tie-up, Cyriac Joseph, Founder and CEO, Squadrone Infra and Mining Pvt. Ltd said, “Through this initiative, we will be integrating our cutting-edge drone-based technology with Geodia Industries’ prowess in AI and ML-driven exploration technology to push the boundaries of geophysical prospecting. This enables us to strengthen our mission to enable quick and effective decision-making, enhance productivity, safety, and increase ecological responsibility. Our intention is to set new industry standards for precision and efficiency. By emphasizing the discovery of vital minerals and employing environmentally conscious technology, the partnership aims to reshape the landscape of mining and exploration activities.”
Jorge Negrette, CEO, Geodia Industries said: “This collaboration is a game-changer for the geophysical exploration sector, we will be breaking new ground in mineral exploration, particularly in challenging and inaccessible regions. Our focus on discovering critical minerals aligns perfectly with Squadrone’s commitment to ESG, Net Zero, environmental and social responsibility, ensuring minimal environmental disturbance and enhancing safety measures with sustainability. This innovative approach not only ensures heightened accuracy in resource detection but also significantly improves prospecting efficiency, minimizes environmental impact, and enhances safety measures”.
Joseph added that by leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Drone based Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Drone based magnetometer -MagArrow, this partnership’s non-destructive technology pushes the boundaries of industry norms. “The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications ensures seamless mineral exploration, offering a range of services from precise mineral prospecting to immersive 3D reality modelling”, he said.
“This collaboration between Squadrone and Geodia, enables exploration processes that take years using traditional methods to be completed in just a few months, therefore paving the way for accelerated and environmentally friendly exploration processes aligning with ESG, Net Zero and Sustainable development of mineral exploration and mining projects,” said the company.
