A person was killed and three others were injured in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu’s Nagapattinam district on Tuesday. The firecracker factory was functioning without proper permits, police said.
Two of the three injured were women.
The blast occurred at the Anjaneya firecracker factory when its owner, Mani, was mixing chemicals to prepare bombs for the upcoming Diwali season. He died in the blast.
Among those injured were Mary Chitra, Kala and Kannan, who sustained severe burn injuries due to the explosion. They were working alongside Mani at the time of the incident.
The Nagapattinam police arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation. During the probe, they discovered that Mani had been operating the factory without the necessary permits.
