UK woman, 70, wins lottery. Now, she will receive Rs 10 lakh per month for 30 years

Doris Stanbridge, a 70-year-old woman from Dorking, England, has won a lottery that will pay her 10,000 pounds (approximately Rs 10.37 lakh) every month for the next 30 years. The win, she says, has given her a new lease on life and inspired her to live until she’s 100.

On her 70th birthday, Mrs Stanbridge decided to buy a lottery ticket after spotting money spiders in her home, a species believed to bring good fortune. She purchased a Set For Life ticket via the National Lottery app, not knowing that this decision would change her life forever.

Over the weekend, Mrs Stanbridge received an email from the National Lottery. Initially, she thought she had won a small prize of 10 pounds. However, the email revealed that she had won a staggering 10,000 pounds a month for 30 years. In disbelief, she sought a second opinion from her son-in-law before finally accepting her incredible luck. The official confirmation from the National Lottery arrived the following morning, cementing her status as a lottery winner.

“It still seems a bit strange when I think about the win and that I will get that money every month for 30 years. It gives me a reason to be around until I am 100!” Mrs Stanbridge told the National Lottery.

Since the win, Mrs Stanbridge and her husband Keith have indulged in some well-deserved treats, including a new bed and an air fryer. They also enjoyed a holiday in Cornwall with their extended family. The couple plans to renovate their 50-year-old house and are looking forward to treating their family to a holiday abroad. “It will be my grandson’s first trip on an aeroplane. I have been looking at a villa in the country with a pool, and sunshine all the time!” Mrs Stanbridge shared excitedly.

Mrs Stanbridge’s life-changing win came from the National Lottery’s Set For Life draw on August 3rd. She matched all the winning numbers that night: 2, 11, 17, 30, 38, and Life Ball 3, according to the National Lottery release.
