In the latest episode of Suchwita, Suga welcomed BTS member Kim Taehyung, popularly known as V, as his guest. He was the final member of the supergroup to appear as a guest. V used the platform to discuss a range of topics alongside fellow bandmate Suga. The chat ranged from his solo album ‘Layover,’ the band’s reunion, and recounting some cherished memories. Here are a few key highlights from the episode:

THE YEAR – 2018- COPING WITH PRESSURE

During the conversation, V opened up about struggling with coping with pressure back in 2018. The constant pressure from the hectic BTS schedule had led him to contemplate self-harm in a quest for some respite. He expressed, “No one can understand why we were having such a hard time or why we were struggling so much.”

Suga acknowledged that the entire band was exhausted at that time, and as a natural consequence, moments of burnout were felt. He highlighted how V was hit particularly hard by this exhaustion.

ABOUT INSECURITIES

V admitted to the insecurities that affected him during that phase. He confessed to feeling inadequate when observing his fellow bandmates’ perfect performances on stage, which intensified his burnout. Both Suga and V discussed how, despite their success, their focus was skewed to navigating difficulties, which in turn took a heavy toll on their mental and physical health.

FAKE LOVE SHOOT AND WANTING TO TAKE RESPITE

Agreeing with Suga, Kim Taehyung reflected on a time in 2018 when the group had been shooting the music video for Fake Love. Exhausted, he found himself longing for a day of respite and even explored the idea of self-harm as a potential path to rest. However, he expressed the desire to leave this past behind.

“I was totally drained. I was so exhausted. I thought so much about taking one day off. I was so tired I wanted one day when I could do nothing. In 2018 after we shot the MV for ‘Fake Love,’ I was so exhausted that I asked like ‘Since tomorrow we only have dance practice, would it be okay if we took a day off?’ But we were preparing for our comeback and it was an important dance practice, so we couldn’t rest. So I was like ‘So I guess we can’t rest.’ and all this negativity piled up inside me. I didn’t think I could do anything in that state, so I kept thinking of ways I could rest. I even thought I should get hurt. If I get hurt, would I be able to rest? But now I want to change that me of the past,” he shared on Suchwita.

FAKE LOVE AND TEAR

Taehyung revealed that ‘Fake Love’ was considered to be dropped from the album as well. But they decided against it. Suga revealed that Namjoon and he wrote ‘Tear’ for the members back in 2018 when the group considered disbanding.

DREAMS

About his dreams, Taehyung mentioned that he wanted to see the northern lights with his members. They promised to fulfil this dream in 2025 once the group reconvenes. They also spoke about touring in 2025 and showing off their individual colours along with BTS’ charisma.

Formerly, other BTS members like Jungkook and J-Hope have also shared their hardships from the past. The band, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, is currently on hiatus to concentrate on their individual careers.
