The Delhi government has decided to hire an agency to maintain the development and beautification works that were carried out prior to the G20 Summit, minister Atishi said on Tuesday.

In addition, the Delhi government has also decided to initiate a project to spruce up areas left out of G20 Summit beautification drive.

On Tuesday, Atishi, along with her department officials, conducted an on-site inspection of four major roads in South Delhi and assessed how the government can increase greenery, landscaping, redesign footpaths, and make the roads better in other areas.

Speaking to the press after the inspection, Atishi said, “We (Delhi Government) will beautify every part of Delhi on the lines of G20-designated areas. Yesterday, a review meeting of MCD (Delhi’s civic body) and PWD was held regarding this initiative, and without wasting any time, the departments have started working at the ground level.”

“Today, I, along with the officials, visited major roads of South Delhi and assessed how we can increase greenery, landscaping, redesign footpaths, and make the roads better in the area. We will appoint a maintenance agency to look after the property of the PWD, including fountains and statues,” she said.

Atishi also directed officials to pay attention to all the details in the process of upgrading the road infrastructure and take every necessary step to enhance Delhi’s beauty.

She also instructed the officials that the beautification work related to the G-20 summit should be regularly maintained to ensure its quality.

The PWD minister stated that during the G20 Summit, everyone witnessed the beauty of Delhi, and “now we will take that beauty to every corner of Delhi”, be it from Narela to Tughlaqabad or from Najafgarh to Shahdara.
