A court on Tuesday rejected the plea filed by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu seeking procurement of house custody. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested last week in an alleged multi-crore scam.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court in Vijayawada on Tuesday agreed with the CID’s contention in the case and refused house remand for Chandrababu Naidu.

Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu was arrested on Saturday. He was arrested in connection with a fraud case involving misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation, leading to a loss of Rs 300 crore to the state government, Andhra Pradesh CID Chief N Sanjay was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

On Sunday, a local court in Vijayawada remanded Chandrababu Naidu in judicial custody for 14 days.

The former chief minister is lodged in the Rajamahendravaram central prison in the East Godavari district. The ACB Court directed the superintendent of Rajamahendravaram central prison to accommodate 73-year-old Naidu separately in view of the purported threat to his life. The former CM is a Z-plus category security protectee.
