Bike taxi rider arrested in Chennai for molesting passenger

The Chennai police on Monday arrested Ramesh, a bike taxi rider, following allegations of molesting a customer who had booked a ride on Sunday night.

The incident occurred when a woman from Choolaimedu used a private two-wheeler riding app to reach Royapettah. Ramesh, a native of Madhurandhagam, responded to her booking and picked her up. During the ride, he allegedly molested the passenger.

The woman also accused Ramesh of using obscene language towards her during the ride.

To safeguard herself and document the incident, she recorded the driver’s actions and the offensive language on her phone. As a precautionary measure, she also messaged her family members, notifying them of her location.

Upon receiving the message, her family members contacted local police. Following an initial inquiry into the matter, police arrested Ramesh on Monday.
