The Rajasthan Police was granted custody of cow vigilante Monu Manesar on Tuesday. The order by a Nuh court came hours after Monu Manesar was arrested by the Harayana Police.

Monu Manesar is an accused in the murder of two Muslim men in February. The two men, Nasir (25) and Junaid (35), were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes from Bharatpur in Rajasthan and were later found dead in a burnt car in Haryana’s Bhiwani district.

Cow vigilante Monu Manesar was arrested Tuesday in connection with an objectionable social media post. He was later presented in a Nuh court and was sent to 14-day judicial custody.

The Rajasthan Police sought custody of Monu Manesar for its probe into the Bhiwani double murder case. The Nuh court granted interim remand of Monu Manesar to Rajasthan Police.

Speaking to India Today, advocate Som Datt Sharma, representing Monu Manesar, said that he is in Rajeshthan Police custody now.

Constable Mohit said that Monu Manesar’s name had cropped up during monitoring of social media activities by Nuh Cyber Crime Police. During routine online monitoring, the authorities had stumbled upon a page managed by Monu Mansar. On this page, a post dated August 26 had been shared, prompting concerns about possible incitement of hatred and disorder among various communities.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the Facebook account associated with the said page was linked to a mobile number registered under the name of Mohit alias Monu Mansar.

Based on this evidence, Monu Mansar was apprehended, and a search of his person led to the discovery of a .45 caliber pistol and three live cartridges concealed in his pants.

Following his arrest by the Haryana Police, an appeal for 14-day judicial custody was filed at the Nuh Court. Subsequently, the Nuh Court granted the request, sending Monu Mansar to judicial custody for 14 days.

The Rajasthan Police then sought the custody of arrested cow vigilante. The Nuh court then gave the transit remand of Monu Manesar to Rajasthan Police.
