The Centre has snubbed claims that the venue of G20 Leaders’ Summit was flooded or acutely affected due to rain in Delhi.

As Delhi woke up to showers on Sunday, controversies over the second day of G20 Leaders’ Summit began doing rounds online. Members of the Opposition, including Congress and Trinamool Congress, alleged the venue of the multi-national summit was “flooded and water logged” in the aftermath of heavy downpours in Delhi during the early hours of Sunday.

Now, the central government’s press bureau has confronted these claims and rebutted the allegations. It said that the venue witnessed “minor water logging in the open area swiftly cleared as pumps were pressed into action after overnight rains”.

Centre snubs claims that the G20 venue was flooded after rain in Delhi.

The Centre’s clarification came after the Opposition lashed out at the Centre over “clips and videos exposing” the truth of the BJP-led Centre.

TMC’s Saket Gokhale wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “According to video by a journalist, the VENUE OF THE G20 SUMMIT has gotten flooded today due to rain. After spending Rs 4000 crore, THIS is the state of infrastructure. How much of these 4000 crores of G20 funds was embezzled by the Modi Government?”

Congress seconded flood claims at the G20 venue and said, “Hollow development exposed India Mandapam was prepared for G20. Rs 2,700 crore were invested. The water went away in one rain…”
