Delhi bans burning, selling of firecrackers on Diwali

The Delhi government on Monday announced the re-imposition of a ban on the production, sale, storage, and utilization of all types of firecrackers in the capital region during this Diwali season.The move comes as a part of an action plan to curb pollution levels during winter, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Monday. Speaking at a press conference in the national capital on Monday, Rai said that the Delhi Police will be given strict instructions to enforce the ban throughout the city. The Delhi government has maintained this practice for the past three years.
