A yoga teacher in England never thought her class on meditation and relaxation would look like a “scene for a ritual mass murder” to onlookers. However, police officers rushed to the venue of her class after a call from an onlooker who was worried there had been a mass killing at the studio located in the English village of Chapel Saint Leonards.

Millie Laws, who runs Unity Yoga, said some local dog walkers mistook her class “drifting into a deep state of relaxation” as a scene for a “ritual mass murder”.

The Facebook page of the Seascape Cafe at the North Sea Observatory where the class was held said the onlookers called the police after they saw several people lying on the floor.

“Dear General Public, please be mindful that the Observatory has lots of Yoga classes happening in the evenings. We are not part of any mad cult or crazy clubs,” the post continued.

Millie Laws told CNN that five police cars showed up at the venue soon after she and the seven other class participants left. The venue manager told her about the episode later. She said she was so shocked that she “didn’t quite believe it was true”.

After speaking to the other people in the class, she said, “They were all participating in a beautiful deep relaxation and it could never have run through any of our minds that it could be taken in this way.”

The police said the onlooker’s call was “made with good intentions”.
