ABVP’s ‘Chhatra Garjana’ rally calls for action on key issues at Delhi University

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a ‘Chhatra Garjana’ rally on Wednesday in both the north and south campuses of Delhi University, demanding immediate action on multiple issues faced by the students.

The key demands include providing Metro concession passes for students, ensuring the availability of sanitary pads through vending machines in every college, improving sports facilities, constructing new hostels, and enhancing overall campus infrastructure.

“Girls studying at Delhi University should not encounter obstacles like inadequate hostels, subpar sanitary facilities, or security concerns that force them to abandon their education. We call upon the university to take immediate steps, such as installing sanitary pad vending machines and establishing pink booths near every college,” said Shiwangi Kharwal, a leader of the student organisation affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

ABVP Delhi State Secretary, Harsh Attri, argued that the university “grapples with infrastructure deficiencies, fee disparities, and a lack of centralised hostel allotment procedures, despite its prestigious tag.”

The student organisation called upon the university authorities to “address these issues immediately” to ensure the “holistic development” of its student community.

In addition to top leaders, nine potential candidates of the party for the upcoming student union elections also participated in the Chhatra Garjana Rally.

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections are scheduled for September 22.
