Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) BD Mishra on Monday rejected the claims of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that China has illegally occupied a large part of Indian territory in Ladakh.

Without taking the Congress leader’s name, retired Brigadier, BD Mishra said, “I won’t comment on anybody’s statement. But I will say what is fact because I have seen myself on the ground that not even one square inch of land which the Chinese have occupied.”

He further added that the Indian Defence Forces are fully prepared to foil any attempt by the Chinese and to give them a “bloody nose” in case of any misadventure.

“Whatsoever happened in 1962, that is immaterial. But today we are in occupation of our land to the last inch,” he was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The comments of Ladakh LG came while he was speaking to reporters in Jammu, where he will participate in a three-day North Tech Symposium organised by the Indian Army.

“Our armed forces are prepared for any eventuality, and God forbid if the balloon goes up, people will get a bloody nose from us,” he said to reporters.

“Their (Army personnel) intent is to defend every square inch of land. Nobody can dare to come towards India with any design to have a foothold here. I think all the credit goes to great leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” BD Mishra added.

RAHUL GANDHI ON CHINA

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been critical of the Narendra Modi-led Union government for its policy on China.

In the past, he has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lying when he asserted that “not even an inch of Ladakh has been taken by China”.

“I have been saying for years that what the PM said, that not one inch of land was lost in Ladakh, is a lie. The entire Ladakh knows that China has transgressed. This map issue is very serious. They have taken away the land. PM should say something about it,” Rahul said.

On August 30 also, Rahul Gandhi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on China’s activities along the Indian border.

The comments of Rahul Gandhi came after China released its new edition of the “standard map”, which included the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, the Aksai Chin region, Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea in it.
